A Win is a win even with the perfect headwind

The Pacific Sun is up with an article about how SMART won. Overall, its a great article talking about a campaign in retrospect. We wish there were more of these articles that came out of the Northbay. However, we don't particularly agree with how they characterized the win. We haven't spent a lot of time with the voter data, but we find it hard to believe that a lot of people who voted against SMART in 2006 voted for it in 2008, especially since the no vote was relatively constant between the two.

Ultimately, we believe SMART had the perfect headwind. The anti-SMART forces made a major misstep by exaggerating their ballot statement. They really were never able to recover from that as their leaders credibility was torn. Also, the Presidential year voter turnout along with the spike in gas prices earlier in the year all made for the perfect headwind.

Regardless, a win is a win though.

Furch needs to concede

What a night. We we're happy with our predictions except for Santa Rosa City Council in which we were way off. Rue Furch has not conceded yet, even though, she would need to win an overwhelming amount of the absentees to win. Hopefully, she will do the right thing and concede so that Supervisors Elect Zane and Carrillo can begin getting ready to take office.
